New Home
Jean and I have recently purchased our first home together. It was a long and stressful process in selecting a home. Then Having to select another and another and another home because a deal could not be worked out, or our offer was topped by someone else. Finally, after months of searching and waiting we purchased our home. Then the real work began. We have been busy replacing all the flooring, painting, replacing the doors, replacing kitchen cabinents, getting appliances, replacing/adding lights and fans, putting in new molding and basebords, and whatever else you can imagine. We are almost finished, and we are really happy with how everyting has turned out. We are also extremely grateful to all those who have helped with our remodel. How We Met and Finally Became a Couple!!
I think it is an interesting story with some widely debated details, but it is interesting just the same. (According to Vinson) The first time we met was at Jean's High School graduation. I happened to be at her High School graduation because I was there to see my good friend Natoshia graduate. After the ceremony I was introduced briefly to Jean. I say it was love at first sight. (This is where Jean likes to start debating details) This was the first time we actually met.
Our next meeting would not come until the summer of 2003(6 years later). It was a mutual friend's wedding reception. We had a mutual friend who reintroduced me to her. For the official record (Jean also can not deny this fact) Jean was almost annoyed by the fact that I tried to talk to her. She definitely did not think that I was her type. Also for the record, we both were in relationships at the time, which cannot help too much.
Our next meeting was where things get really interesting. My Mom was assigned to visit Jean once a month as part of a program we have at our church. Due to several factors however my mom was only able to send her letters each month. Well in the early part of 2004, Jean contacted my Mom about coming to church. My Mom informed me that a person might be calling about information for church and the Singles Program our church has. The call came one evening and I spoke to Jean and invited her to church and to a Singles Dance (As friends of course).
After declining my invitations a couple times, she finally agreed to come to a Singles Dance with me for our church. When I picked her up, she looked absolutely beautiful. We went to the dance and I think she had an ok time, but she was a little mad that I did not tell her she could wear pants. Oh yeah and one more minor detail, we were both dating someone else at the time. Jean started coming to more church and church events more and more after that, so we started to become good friends.
As things work out I found myself single at the time and really starting to develop an interest in Jean. However, she still had a boyfriend. Jean and I remained friends though, and eventually Jean started to develop feelings for me as well. Thinking Jean still had a boyfriend I did not want to intrude on her relationship. So I did not tell her of the feelings I had for her, and she in turn did not tell me of the feelings she had for me. One evening Jean finally told me of her feelings for me (She was single now, so it was OK). I was ecstatic hearing this news. Not too long after that we starting dating, and we eventually were married April 16, 2005.
